We offer coasteering, kayaking, rock climbing, abseiling, sea level traversing, gorge scrambling, mountain walking, MEGA SUP, raft building, navigation courses and more. We also run skill-based courses in rock climbing, mountaineering, sea kayaking and navigation.
Age 8+ for most activities. Age 6+ for sit-on-top kayaking (on a tandem with a parent/adult family member), MEGA SUP and raft building. Age 12+ for abseiling, sea level traversing and Explorer Coasteering.
Under 18s can take part without an adult in most activities, but a parent or legal carer must be close by — for example, on the headland when coasteering — in case they need to get out early for any reason. They must be confident in the water and have full parental consent, with a parent or legal carer completing their disclaimer prior to them taking part. Under 16s taking part without someone aged 18+ will need to pay the adult rate.
You don't need to be a strong swimmer. Being confident in the sea is more important than being able to swim. Participants wear buoyancy aids which provide plenty of buoyancy.
If you can carry two bags of shopping up the stairs without stopping, you're probably fit enough. We tailor every session to the group's abilities. You'll need to complete a medical form before attending.
We are AALA licensed and all instructors are NGB-qualified, DBS-checked and first-aid trained. We hold £5 million public liability insurance. All activities are risk assessed, and we use quality equipment that is inspected weekly.
Sessions are adapted to conditions. If the weather makes an activity unsuitable, we'll offer an alternative activity or reschedule for another day.
Morning: 9:15am–12:15pm. Afternoon: 1:15pm–4:15pm. Evening: 5:15pm–8:15pm (July and August only). All timings are approximate.
Most activities meet at Anglesey Outdoors, Porthdafarch Road, Holyhead, LL65 2LP, where we have changing facilities, toilets and hot showers on site. Gorge Scrambling is different — participants meet directly at the gorge car park, and full meeting details will be provided at the time of booking. You'll need your own transport to reach the meeting point, and some activity locations may charge for parking — please budget for this on the day.
For water activities: swimwear, old trainers, and (for coasteering and gorge scrambling) shorts to wear over the wetsuit, plus optionally a rash vest. For climbing/abseiling: grippy trainers or lightweight walking shoes. For mountain days: walking boots, waterproofs, hat, gloves, thick socks. We provide all technical equipment.
Yes, if spaces are available — but we recommend booking in advance to secure your spot. Full payment must be received before your session.
By BACS, online through the booking system, or by debit/credit card (small fee for credit cards). Payment in full is required when booking online. For private groups, a 25% deposit secures your booking with the balance due 14 days before your activity date. No payment on the day.
The deposit is retained on cancellation. If you cancel within 2 weeks of your activity, the full payment is retained. For groups, it's within 28 days. If we cancel due to weather, we'll offer an alternative date or a full refund.
We hold £5 million public liability insurance. Personal travel or accident insurance is not included in your booking — we recommend arranging your own.
Not recommended for coasteering due to wear and tear on the rocks. Shorty wetsuits are unsuitable. We provide quality 5mm winter wetsuits.
Waterproof cameras are available to book in advance. Bring your own SD card or buy one for £10.
No. For everyone's safety, anyone under the influence of alcohol or drugs — or visibly hungover — will not be allowed to take part. Our activities involve real risks in dynamic environments (water, rock, cliffs) and clear judgement and reaction times are essential. If a member of your group is turned away on the day for this reason, no refund will be issued. We recommend the big night out comes after the activity, not before.
