There is nothing quite like the experience of placing your own protection and committing yourself to making a move or above it. You may have spent a summer seconding friends on single and multi pitch rock climbs, or maybe you’ve spent a few afternoons or winter evenings at your local climbing wall. However you may feel now is the time to get onto the sharp end of the rope and start leading your own climbs? Over the course of the weekend we will go climbing on a variety of climbs in Snowdonia, The weekend will be structured with the aim of teaching you to lead your own routes at an appropriate level.
Sound teaching in guidebook interpretation, anchor selection, gear placements, and setting up belays will be given. The equally important areas of training for rock climbing, injury avoidance and climbing ethics will also be covered. The emphasis throughout the course is on teaching participants to gain sufficient experience and ability to lead your own routes in the future.
